Movie Plot/Summary
Liam Turner is a shy, polite sixth-grader with dyslexia, struggling with the recent challenges in his life. His parents, Bill and Molly, are facing marital issues after the tragic loss of his brother Spencer, compounded by their recent move to a new town. To make matters worse, Liam feels too insecure to properly introduce his new friend Gibby to his parents, and he often embarrasses himself around his classmate and crush, Emma. Despite this, Emma is the one person in class who stands up for him because of his learning disorder.
Liam, hoping for things to improve, writes his Christmas wishlist and mails it out. However, in a hilarious mistake, he accidentally spells “Santa” as “Satan.” The next night, Satan himself shows up in Liam’s room. Though initially puzzled by his visitor’s appearance and strange manners, Liam still assumes it’s Santa. Amused, Satan decides to play along and grants Liam three wishes. Without much thought, Liam wishes that Emma would give him a chance. The following day at school, Satan appears again, urging Liam to take a shot with Emma. Despite his nervousness, Liam musters the courage to ask her out and surprisingly lands a date for a Post Malone concert, with Satan even supplying VIP tickets.
Liam later recounts his encounter with “Santa” to his mother and Gibby, but Gibby quickly corrects him, revealing his mistake. Determined to get out of the deal, Liam confronts Satan, only for the demon to refuse, instead tempting him to make his two remaining wishes, with his soul as the final payment. When Liam returns home, he finds his parents with child psychologist Dr. Finkleman, concerned about Liam’s escalating “fantasies.” Just as the session begins, Gibby and Satan interrupt, whisking Liam away to a concert. With Satan’s assistance, Liam is called up to the stage, where, to the crowd’s wild applause, he dances alongside Emma and Malone, even receiving a kiss on the cheek from Emma. Meanwhile, Gibby, feeling left out, leaves early after a girl rejects him because of his overbite.
